How do you feel when you hear a baby crying?

Do you want to rush up and hold him/her until they calm down?
Or do you think “Where are their parents?
Or do you do something else?

I am a mother so, It depends on why they are crying.
I just feel annoyed.
It depends on their cry. They have certain cries that they do, that lets you know what they’re mood is. If they’re crying for a long time however, say like 10 minutes, then I say something to the parents. I let my kids cry for that long, but that’s the way I was raised. Address all their needs, change them, feed them, things like that and if none of that works let a baby cry for a little while.
It depends on the type of cry that is coming from the baby. If it’s just wanting to be picked up and held or fed, that’s not an irritating wail. If the baby is really screaming and crying out, whether it’s from colic, teething or illness, then that can truly be annoying. Especially so when you can’t get away from the noise (i.e. on an airplane, a bus ride, a family gathering, or a celebration). That’s when the parents either should really try to comfort their child, else they shouldn’t have taken the baby out in public.
You rush to child to find out what the problem is, may be the parents are away, may be the child is hungry, or may be the child is wet.
I’m a ‘fixer’ so if it was socially acceptable, I would usually think I could resolve the problem if I could identify the type of cry. If I hear it in the supermarket though, I think shut that f***ing child up.
Depends on my mood, how long they been crying, how loud.etc But for the most part. I feel relief that I don’t have kids.
If I know the baby or if I’m taking care of one I’ll hold it and comfort it.
Depends on the kind of cry….pain, hunger, just crying (they do that you know to strengthen their lungs); certain cries I can deal with, pain is something else.
