What can I do to help my baby stop crying at night when I’m not home?

I live in a 2 bedroom condo with my 17 year old sister (very responsible and mature) and 8 month old baby girl. I work at a motel as a desk clerk so I leave at 4 p.m. and come home at 11:45. My baby cries for me at night though and she screams so my neighbor calls the police!! I know they’d think that someone was hurting the baby but he’s done it 5 times in the last 2 weeks! I’ve lived in the condo for 6 months, on the 18th floor for 4 months and on the 12th floor for 2 months. Ever since I’ve moved in he’s hated me. I’m italian, he’s indian and I have no problem with him, he just doesn’t like me. I’ve complained too but it’s not working. I would like to stop working until 11:30 (I reach home at 11:45) but I really need the money for my baby’s toys and groceries. Before I used to work from 8 a.m. to 2:30 but I get good tip at night. I don’t use the money on me a lot, mostly on my sister and baby. What do I do to help my baby stop crying at night when I’m not home but my sister is?
I’m currently on the 12th floor.

When did they start to sleep through the night? How are they now as toddlers and teens? Do they whine a lot and get bored and are difficult now that they are older? I have been looking for a study on babies that cry a lot Vs. Babies that do not cry much and their temperment when they are older, but I have not found anything.

i have a 7 month baby and i must be doing some thing wrong because he cries a lot at night. i do every thing, shower, fed him late, hold him every thing and nothing seems to be working. i thought he would be sleeping threw the night already but he is not. does any one have any suggestions.

Since yesterday morning he’s been crying out of control. Nothing seems to calm him down. It’s hard to get things done around the house because of his crying. Why all of a sudden is crying so much? me and hubby do feed him while my son is laying down can that caused him ear infection?

How do you know when you should pick up a crying baby, or just let them be for a moment?

Our daughter is only 6 days old. She sleeps a lot during the day, but then has a period of restlessness during the night where we can’t get her to completely settle down. She doesn’t necessarily scream, she just fidgets and squirms while making small little yelps, etc.

All of her basic needs are met; her diaper is dry, she has just eaten at the time, she appears comfortable, etc. But we don’t know when to just let her be. Obviously, if she is in trouble, we are right there. But you can’t sit there and run to her side every 5 minutes during the night because then you aren’t getting any rest, either. And that isn’t good for anybody involved either.

She is great with a pacifier and always calms down with one in her mouth…..But she just loves to spit it out to play mouth games and then gets restless when she doesn’t have it in her mouth again. And like I said, you can’t just sit there and watch her all night, because then you are totally worthless for her the next day. Thks!
