Why Baby Cry

Why don’t babies cry in the womb?

anm8234 asked:

I asked my mom and at first she said they did.

So i said ‘then why can’t we hear them?’

and she said ‘well maybe they don’t because i think they take their first breaths when they are born.’

and i said ‘then how do they survive in the womb?’

and she said she doesn’t know…

so yeah, im wondering about that..

    Maybe they do… Google it

your mom should know those answers lol but no they do not cry in the womb…they are in amniotic fluid and they survive through the umbilical cord which is attached to the placenta where the baby gets all its nutrients from your food.

actually they do make noises in the womb, I don’t think they actually cry though because all their needs are being met, they don’t get hungry, they don’t need to be changed, they don’t need to be burped, so why would they cry? yes they don’t breathe in the womb, their oxygen is passed from the mother via the placenta.

They do cry in the womb. You can’t hear the cries because they live in amniotic fluid and therefore do not take breathfuls of oxygen. It’s not until their first real breath that they cry outloud.

When babies are in the womb they do not get oxygen from breathing in air like we do. The umbilical cord is attached to the placenta and that is where they get all their nutrients and oxygen.
When a baby is born the doctor cuts the umbilical cord and that is when they take their first breath.
And I don’t think babies would want to cry in the womb – they already have everything that they need.

All of their needs are always being met. They are so comfy and are being continuously fed, warmed, and rocked.

Studies suggests that babies do cry in the womb. However, we wouldn’t be able to hear them as they live in amniotic fluid and our vocal chords make noise with the oxygen we breathe.

  8. Serena says:

In order to make sound, air has to pass over the vocal cords. That can’t happen in the womb.

Babies get oxygen through gill slits when they are first conceived. The lungs don’t even fully develop until late in pregnancy (at about 32 weeks). They get oxygen from their mom’s blood. One reason women get anemic while pregnant is the higher demand for oxygen the baby places on her body.

If a baby is born premature, they are often put in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and they are given high doses of steroids to increase the speed of their lung development.

  9. Evie's Momma says:

Studies suggest babies do cry in the womb, however they can’t make any noise while doing it. They show other signs of crying though, like a quivering chin and things like that. Its not until they take their first breath of air that they can cry out loud.
